From MHCGraphics
Hey Everyone! My name is Phoebe, obviously, I am from Nantucket island 30 miles off of Massachusetts. I am a freshman at Mount Holyoke College, and am interested in many different areas of study, but have yet to decide on one. I love to travel, I lived abroad my junior year of high school with my family in Albania (a small country in Europe just north of Greece) and while I was there had the oppertunity to travel to many different countries within the Balkans as well as a few others.

[edit] Restaurants
There are a lot of restaurants on Nantucket Island, it is hard to choose just one. Many of them are rather expensive , as Nantucket Island is, but the food is fabulous. Some names include The Boarding House, Black Eyed Susans, 21 Federal, Centre Street Bistro, Sushi by Yoshi, and Cinco.
[edit] My Favorite Restaurant
If I had to choose my favorite, I would have to say Centre Street Bistro, a very small, quaint restaurant in the historic downtown of Nantucket. Sushi by Yoshi is also a very nice place to have fresh sushi on the island.
[edit] A Simple Model
This is an image that was created with a series of of spheres and cones that have been scaled and translated to look like a penguin. Each body part of the penguin was created as an object and then added together to form one group that made up the entire animal.
[edit] Lab Three
This is a scene that was created using four different methods which include: Mesh Objects- which was used to create the pyramid roof of the house. Lathe Objects- which were used to create the ground surrounding the trees. Intersections- which were used to create the trees and the cone shape that they appear to have. And finally, Differences- which was used to create the door in the wall of the cube house.
[edit] Lab Four
Realistic Model- A scene of three watches incased within three seperate glass boxes sitting on top of a mirror cube- in a room with two walls and a floor
[edit] Lab Five- Surprise!
This scene is a simple scene with many repeated objects. Two different kinds of clouds were repeated three times, as well as the object of the tree which was repeated nine times. The surprise aspect of the scene is that of four easter baskets with easter eggs that are hidden behind the line of nine trees. When looking at it from the front, the easter baskets are completely hidden, however when the camera is moved and different angles are shot, the easter baskets are revealed. Although the baskets themselves are the same, each two contain different colored eggs!
[edit] Lab 6
This scene's focus is on the replication of an object. I designed three different authentic snowflakes that i programmed to randomly fall throughout my scene, within defined perameters. Also within this snow scene, I incorporated three different shared models: The JDLighting from Mr.Teresco (an addition of nine lights) The Tree from Devora Kremer (a tree that I used three times in three different locations) and a SwingSet by Sara Todd. Thank you for your images!
[edit] Lab 7
By using Bezier curves I created a hot air balloon, a smooth, rounded object that would have been difficult to create by using the combination of other shapes. The balloon's outline was created and then lathed around the y axis to create a three dimensional object. The balloon was then hallowed out and a light was added to the center of it, to give the effect of the flame inside. The basket of the balloon was also created with the Bezier curves, similar to that of the balloon. The basket and the balloon are connected by four cylinders, that represent the ropes. Clouds and a blue sky were also added to the scene to make it look more realistic, as well as a light off to the side to look like a sun.
[edit] Lab 7, Part 2: Animation
Using the object I created in Part 1 of Lab 7, the hot air balloon made out of a series of Bezier curves, I added the animation tools learned in class to make certain aspects of the scene move. The hot air balloon itself moves in a similar shape of that as a Bezier curve, as I defined four points as the parameters of the movements. The clouds also move throughout the scene at a constant pace along the x axis, defined with -5 as its parameter. To give the animation a more realistic look, I added "grass" as well as five trees spread randomly within the ground panel. The trees also act as a reference point for when the scene is in motion- the clouds move to the left, the balloon to the right, and the trees remain in place. I have also added a still frame to get an idea of what the scene looks like, before seeing it in motion.
[edit] Final Project
My final project is focusing on realistic objects/materials. The scene is that of a child's bedroom/playroom full of toys- which are my detailed, realistic objects. I have created the basic design of the room- yellow walls, wooden floors created from a surface image, a pink rug, and a table, a crib, and a bookshelf mounted on the wall.
Some of the detailed objects I have created include: A Rattle (which I have placed within the crib)- which is made up of a rather shiny material to give the effect that it is metal; Blocks- all different shapes and sizes, made up of a rough brown material to resemble wood; The Game of Jacks- made up of six jacks, two of which are made up of a shiny metalic material to resemble the original Jacks the other four various colors, as well as a shiny orange ball, made to look like the shiny plastic-rubber balls in the game; I also have made a Top that I have added four of to the scene-with basic colors (red, blue, yellow, green). I also created a series of shiny materials that I used to make a game of marbles with, which sit somewhat behind the crib in the scene. There are various colored books within the bookshelf, as well as on the floor, some which have a matching spine and cover, while some are all the same color. There is a spring on the floor under the crib, a lofted object that I used from Professor Teresco's example, and added a shiny metalic material for it. There is a mobile attatched to the wall which hangs above the crib as well. I left the other three shelves of the bookshelf empty, as if all the things that might fill the shelves are on the rug.
Along the walls I added surface images of children's artwork for decorations, as well as a mirror.
An alternate view of the room.
Here is an image of the rattle in the crib.
