[edit] Lab 1: "Setting Up Your Wiki"

Hi! My name is Janine, which you can remember by the following anecdote:

My name has the number "nine," or "9," in it. My sister's name is Kirsten, which has the number "ten," or "10," in it. What's even more incredible? My sister is dating a guy named Nate! So we have 8, 9, and 10!

Now that you know my name, let me tell you a little more about myself. I'm a senior at Mount Holyoke College with a double major in Psychology and Statistics. I'm a member of Mount Holyoke's tennis team, Diversions a cappella, and flute choir. I'm also a teaching assistant for the Statistics Department! I've always loved computers, which is why I'm taking COMSC-110: The Art and Science of Computer Graphics. This is my wiki page for the course, which will allow you to view my progress throughout the course.

My favorite restaurant? Well, I'm not the type of person who likes anything fancy, although I do enjoy a good steak meal! However, I'm more likely to go to a local Chinese restaurant to order my favorite dish, Chicken with Broccoli, than to go to a fancy restaurant to have some delicious steak. My favorite Chicken with Broccoli comes from Chinatown Kitchen, which is only 10 or 15 minutes from my hometown in Cornwall, NY. I go there often.

Smile, laugh, and have fun!!!

[edit] Lab 2: "Objects and Transforms"

The three shapes that were used in this model were spheres, cones, and cylinders. The birds' beaks, tails, and toes were made from different manipulations of a simple cone. The birds' heads, bodies, and eyes were made from different transformations of spheres, and the legs are made from stretched and rotated cylinders. A group was made to combine one leg with 3 toes. Two such groups (aka 2 legs and a pair of feet) were then placed in another group with a beak, a tail, a head, a body, and 2 eyes. This new group formed a whole bird. To create the image below, three of the previously described group were were added to the scene and were rotated and translated, resulting in 3 birds in different positions and directions. In addition, an extra light was added to the scene to brighten the scene, as well as to get rid of unwanted shadows that were appearing from the birds' eyes.
